In addition to the existing technical exchange with colleagues in the partner countries, EFFO will expand its digital learning and teaching programme. A series of webseminars on clinical management is being planned with the Rwanda Biomedical Centre.

Since 2019, the focus has also been on improving and expanding infrastructural capacities for isolating HCID (High Consequence Infectious Diseases) patients in Rwanda. These activities were classified as critical infrastructure in the context of COVID-19 by Rwandan health authorities.

Specialists from the RKI laboratory carried out a PCR training for SARS-CoV-2 diagnostics at the Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC) in Kigali in February 2020. In addition, diagnostic kits were provided to the RBC.
