Demonstration: Doffing Personal Protective Equipment - PPE

Method: demonstration
Duration: about 40 minutes
Objective: to learn the stages in doffing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), drawing attention to the risk of contamination and delicate gestures
Group: 2 trainers perform the demonstration while the group watches
Equipment: 1 full PPE for one person; 1 PPE "light”; equipped decontamination site (see separate check-lists)

Contents and plan

While one trainer presents Module 5 (about Personal Protective Equipment - PPE), the others withdraw to dress a person in full PPE and install a decontamination site (yellow and green zone).

Participants stand or sit around the decontamination site to watch the demonstration.

The main trainer explains the procedure to the participants while the trainer wearing the PPE removes it in accordance with his colleague’s instructions.

For consideration

Draw attention to the role of the person giving the instructions at the decontamination station.
