Senegal (2014-2015)
Senegal faced a confirmed case of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) during the west african Ebola outbreak in August 2014. The carrier was an individual who entered the country overland. Fortunately, no one else was infected. Nonetheless Senegal identified a need for training. A Fact-Finding Mission was conducted through the Medmissio Institute for Global Health in autumn 2014. Training courses planned for the government system at that time did not include the church sector. The “Association Nationale des Postes de Santé Catholiques du Sénégal” (ANPSCS) was identified as a project partner in Senegal and resulted in 76 healthcare facilities being integrated into the EFFO project.
Senegal also assisted with the pilot phase of the project by facilitating one of its trainers to attend the training module development workshop in Ouagadougou in November 2014.
